Atmel’s SAM L22 series of secure microcontrollers features a very low-power capacitive touch controller alongside a segment LCD controller which can control up to 320 segments. The SAM L22 MCUs, which are based on an ARM® Cortex® M0+ processor core running at up to 32MHz, are ideal for low-power applications such as thermostats and utility meters that include both a human-machine interface and a display screen.
The SAM L22 series is particularly well suited to battery-powered connected devices such as Internet of Things (IoT) sensor or control nodes, in which security and ultra-low power consumption are critical features. The SAM L22 series offers advanced security features including 256-bit AES encryption, a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC), true random number generator, Flash protection and tamper detection to ensure information may be securely stored, delivered and accessed. To achieve the lowest possible power consumption, the SAM L22 uses Atmel’s proprietary picoPower® technologies and smart low-power peripherals which work independently of the CPU in sleep modes.
The SAM L22 series of MCUs also features up to 256kbytes of Flash and 32kbytes of SRAM, a crystal-less Full-Speed USB device capability, programmable serial communication modules and Atmel’s patented Event System and Sleepwalking™ technologies.
