CUI has announced a line of compact 5W wall-plug adapters with an integrated USB connector, aimed at the North American, Japanese and European markets.
The SWI5-5-N-I38 and SWI5-5-E-I38 are designed to meet the stringent new average-efficiency and no-load power requirements mandated by the US Department of Energy. The purpose of these new Level VI standards, which are set to go into effect on 10 February 2016, is to markedly lower the amount of power consumed when the end application is not in use or is no longer connected to the system. Any manufacturer seeking to market an end-product with an external adapter in the US must comply with Level VI.
CUI’s SWI5-5-N-I38 and SWI5-5-E-I38 power adapters provide a ready-made solution for Level VI compliance. With a footprint as small as 64.9mm x 36mm x 22.5mm, the compact AC-DC converter design is ideally suited to portable consumer applications. The 5W adapters provide single 5V DC regulated outputs from a wide universal input-voltage range from 90V AC to 264V AC. No-load power consumption is <0.075W.
Featuring input blades for North American and Japanese wall plugs, the SWI5-5-N-I38 offers 60950-1 UL/cUL and PSE safety approvals. The SWI5-5-E-I38 with European input blades has GS safety approval. All models meet Class B limits for conducted and radiated emissions.
