The ISL29125 from Intersil is a low power colour light sensor which has a high sensitivity to Red, Green and Blue (RGB) light sources.
The ISL29125’s state-of-the-art photo-diode array provides an accurate RGB spectral response and excellent light source to light source variation on output. The sensor
rejects the IR element in light sources, enabling it to operate effectively in any environment from bright sunlight to a dark room. In addition, the integrating ADC
rejects the 50hz and 60hz flicker caused by artificial light sources.
The output from the ISL29125 provides accurate information about light intensity and light source. For example, deciding whether the device is indoors or outdoors.
The information about light intensity also supports intelligent display power management. It is able to adjust the brightness automatically to suit ambient light conditions. This helps to optimise power usage and enhance the user experience. In addition, information about the light source allows third-party applications developers to enhance their products and add new features A selectable range allows the user to optimise the ISL29125’s sensitivity to suit any given application. Two sensitivity ranges are available. In Range 0, the ISL29125 responds to light levels ranging between 5.7 millilux and 375 lux. In Range 1, the ISL29125 is sensitive to light at levels between 0.152 lux and 10,000 lux.
The ISL29125 supports hardware and software user-programmable interrupt thresholds. It is housed in a six-lead ODFN package measuring 1.65mm x 1.65mm x
