The ISL8541x & ISL85003/A devices, which include built-in high-side and low-side MOSFETs, efficiently down-convert the DC voltage from a power supply or battery to power multiple microprocessors and board components.
The ISL85410, ISL85412, ISL85413 ISL85415 and ISL85418 offer designers great flexibility when designing power circuits for multiple end-product variants. All five devices operate over a wide input voltage range of 3V to 36V. The output range is also wide, stretching from 0.6V to 0.95 x the input voltage. The devices’ maximum output current ratings are 0.2A (ISL85412), 0.3A (ISL85413), 0.5A (ISL85415), 0.8A (ISL85418) and 1.0A (ISL85410). The ISL85003/A offers maximum output current rating of 3A.
The ISL85410/15/18 and ISL85003/A devices are pin-to-pin compatible in a 4mm x 3mm package, and the ISL85412/3 are pin-to-pin compatible in a 3mm x 3mm package. A single layout can be used in multiple systems, thus accelerating time to market and reducing design cost.
These voltage regulators are also notable for their high efficiency and low quiescent current. For instance, efficiency is better than 90% when supplying both full and light loads at 5V from an input voltage of 12V. Quiescent current is rated at a typical 50-80μA in all six devices.
