The Vishay SiP12116 microBuck® lowpower synchronous buck converter is easy to use in point-of-load applications with a 5V or 12V rail, and also meets nVidia™ OpenVreg Type 0 specifications, including the package and footprint requirement.
The SiP12116 is highly integrated, combining the high-side and low-side N-channel MOSFETs as well as a Current-Mode Constant On-Time (CMCOT) controller in a compact 3mm x 3mm DFN10 leadless surface-mount package. The converter is capable of supplying up to 3A continuously, and output voltage is adjustable down to 0.6V. The fixed switching frequency of 650kHz ensures high energy efficiency and allows the use of small external components to help minimise overall circuit size.
CM-COT control enables the SiP12116 to deliver ultra-fast transient response, excellent line and load regulation, and enhanced ripple control under light-load conditions. In addition, no external compensation is required, and the design can be completed using all ceramic capacitors with no requirement to use special low-ESR components.
A full set of protection features is built into the SiP12116, including cycle-by-cycle current limit, short-circuit protection, over-temperature protection, and input Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO). A power-good function and 1.2ms fixedduration soft-start function are also provided.
