TE Connectivity has introduced the Power Triple Lock (PTL) connector series, which provides three separate locking mechanisms to give confidence in a termination’s connection stability. An audible lock latch provides positive feedback when the cap and plug are mated, while the ribs surrounding the latch help to prevent wires from becoming snagged underneath it.
In addition, an optional Connector Position Assurance (CPA) feature helps to ensure that once engaged, the PTL system cannot be mistakenly disengaged. At the same time, the optional Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) mechanism fully secures the contacts within the housing, helping to ensure that the termination will not suffer from contact back-out.
Both panel-mount and free-hanging receptacles are part of the PTL product offering, and four keying options are available to help prevent mis-mating on the assembly line. The PTL connector system is offered in a variety of housing materials for different application requirements. These include V0 materials with a standard 105°C rating, glow-wire materials which comply with the IEC 60335 standard, and high-temperature materials rated for use at up to 150°C.
The PTL connector system can accommodate single wire ranges from 12 AWG to 20 AWG, and double wires from 2×18 AWG to 2×20 AWG.
