Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its microBUCK® family of integrated synchronous buck regulators with a new 4A device operating at high, programmable switching frequencies of up to 1.5MHz and over a wide input voltage range of 4.5-15V. The output voltage range is 0.6V-5.5V.
The Vishay Siliconix SiP12109 includes both high- and low-side power MOSFETs in a space-saving 3mm x 3mm QFN-16 package. A complete 4A power circuit based on the SiP12109 can be realised in a board footprint of just 180mm2, making the device ideal for a wide range of space-constrained applications.
An advanced power saving mode provides for efficiency of up to 95% over the entire load range. The SiP12109’s current mode constant on time architecture produces very fast transient response, and tight ripple regulation at very light loads. The requirement for output capacitance is moderate.
The SiP12109 offers a full protection feature set, including output undervoltage and over-voltage protection, thermal shut-down, input undervoltage lock-out and a power-good indicator.
The regulator is stable with any capacitor type and requires no ESR network for loop stability.
