Sierra Wireless has launched its second generation of LTE (4G) embedded cellular modules, offering support for more LTE frequency bands and providing for global coverage and carrier certifications.
The following four modules are now available from Sierra Wireless: the AirPrime® MC7350, MC7350-L, MC7354 and MC7304 all use the standard PCI Express Mini Card format popular in industrial applications and mobile computing.
AirPrime MC73xx modules give OEMs the opportunity to use the very high data rates offered by cellular operators’ LTE networks. Up to 100Mbits/s in the downlink and 50Mbits/s in the uplink are possible, supporting advanced features such as enhanced voice and video communications. The modules all feature echo cancellation, noise reduction and DTMF capabilities.
The LTE capabilities of the modules include support for Quality of Service (QoS), and VoLTE with CSFB (Circuit Switch Fall Back), providing for uninterrupted voice service as the module moves from an LTE cell to a 3G, 2G or CDMA 1xRTT cell.
The MC73xx devices offer a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface for communication with an applications processor, four GPIOs and an I2S/ PCM audio interface. They also feature builtin satellite positioning capability via GPS and Glonass.
